Maybe I'm mistaken, but I didn't get that from the Article. Maybe the Hips are engaged? The following is a quote from the Article. He does say that the Tailbone moves before the legs. But then he says that the "Spine's gears drive the Rotation".

But from the back view you can clearly see that the spine engine is the initiator of the action. His sacrum or tailbone moves far before the legs move. The legs are only expressing the motion of the spine engine in Rory’s swing.

From the back view it looks like the spine engine is driving the swing in one big firing.

But it can only do this IF there is the necessary lateral bending and lumbar lordosis (from spine engine article draft…email me if you want a copy of this), the spine’s gears drive the rotation during the entire swing.

Here
it looks like his right hip takes a big impact shock and bounces to the left hip. Before the upper body inertia pulls everything through.

I agree. I see it too. Like Brian Gay. I don't get it. It's like the Pivot is a big Backstop. Ya got your Backstop players and your Rotor Motors. I'm a Rotor Motor.

I didn't know that Brian had the same.

McIlroy's doesn't look like a pivot firing back stop. It looks like it happens at impact. Is it the same with Brian Gay?

Yep. It's not as intense as McIlroy's but it's there. Another guy does it too. I'll run through some film.

O ya, Davis Love III, obvious from any angle. http://www.pgatour.com/swingplex/00/17/06/index.html

Guys, if the upper and lower are geared like that .........could a Shoulder Throw turn the Hips? Thats what my swing feels like. When ever I start trying to fire the Hips to pull the shoulders or whatever all hell breaks loose.

This could be due to lumbar problems or Lard Assis, not sure which.

We should probably go down to Hawaii and check everything out for ourselves. After all, they know their hula-hula down there. Maybe we could even throw in a couple golf rounds!

With my left hip being plastic and metal, it always feels like I shift laterally with my hip when I raise my front shoulder just a bit. Daryl, thanks for that nice PGA link and the nice hip shift diagrams, yesterday.

I was able to simply bump or thrust about 150 balls down the middle using angled or horizontal hinging. Does it seem to both of you that the last thought you have before the swing is over is to bump or thrust?

The swing happens so fast!

OB, Daryl does seem like a pretty nice guy, after all!

I think you will get a hip turn when you do a Shooulder Turn Throw. Don't know whether it's a cause and effect thing though. Could also be partly common causes from the feet.

I never try to fire the Hips to turn the shoulders. I fire the right hip and try to hold the shoulders back. Quite similar to shoulder throw, although I rarely use the sharp initial acceleration. Then I fire the left hip I pull the shoulder and the arm and the club. While I turn the shoulders.
