I was watching the preview of the Brian Gay and Yoda DVD. I watched that wedge shot Brian hits at the :50 second mark about 100 times today and I have to say, I can think of only one golf swing I have ever seen that was as good as that one--the Ben Hogan down-the-line driver in the video in which McLean reviews his swing (the first video).

Speaking of great swings, I would cut off my pinky finger to get that swing vision of Boo Weekley from today's telecast. Either that or I would pay money for a copy of it.

The reason you can't sustain the lag is because you are so eager to make the club move fast (a reaction to the intent of "hitting it far"). So on a full shot you throw it away too early, which doesn't happen for your short chip. (bts)

Boo has a great swing doesn't he? Tons-o-lag. He and Joe Durant are two of the best ball strikers I have ever seen.

play suspended
Play has been suspended due to wind, but Brian is playing well.

Play suspended due to wind? How windy is it, I would have thought it is part of the game unless it is life threatening (hurricane).

I was a bit surprised to hear this as well, but apparently the wind was blowing hard enough that tree branches were coming down. One of the marshalls was hit by a falling branch. According to pgatour.com, play was suspended because "balls wouldn't remain in place on the 16th, 17th, and 18th greens".

Here in Ireland we would call wind like that a "Good Golfing Day"

Grinding It Out
Play in the weather-delayed Verizon Heritage resumed this morning at 'dark-thirty' -- 7:45 a.m. ET.

In the early-morning cold and wind, Brian Gay is 2-under at the turn and T9.

This guy is good!

You Know It Ain't Easy
In the cold and wind, Brian Gay today fired a final round 73 to finish at 4-under par 280 and T16. His effort earned $80,000.

Brian once again beat all but a handful of the world's best players on a very tough golf course under very difficult conditions.

It ain't easy being good!
