Verizon Heritage -- Only Shotmakers Need Apply

Brian Gay is set to go at 1:10 p.m. in tomorrow's first round of the Verizon Heritage. As has been the case since its inception in 1969, this premier $5.4 million PGA TOUR event is being played on the Harbour Town Golf Links in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.

Unlike many of the TOUR's current venues, this is not a 'bombers' course. Instead, it plays to "only" 6,973 yards (but also to a par of 71) and places a premium on accuracy. That's right up Brian's alley: He finished #1 in Driving Accuracy last month at both the PODS Championship and at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. Further proof of the pudding is his T9 finish last year on rounds of 66-67-73-70=276 and winnings of $148,400! :occasion:

Go Brian! :rambo:

A Solid Start

Brian Gay was out out in 33 in the first round of the Verizon Heritage in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. A double bogey at 12 marred the fun, and a birdie at 13 was offset by a bogey at the last.

At the end, it was a wonderful round of 70, -1, for the day and a T20 in a stellar field of 130.

We're proud of you, Brian. :salut:

Keep it going!

I was just "semi-watching" delayed TGC coverage of round 1 and looked up to see Brian teeing off on the par 3 number 17. Great coverage of his pre-shot all the way through the hit which looked like it ended up about 30 feet. (Looked like a bit of a punch shot called for by some wind that seemed to be kicking pretty good).

Yoda..... all I can say is beautiful and functional! What a great looking motion!

Go Brian!

After buying a house 12 months ago and spending all of my spare time renovating it, I haven't been able to fit any Golfing Machine or practice in for what seems like forever. I just started to get back into it this past week and one of the first areas of the site that I couldn't get enough of was "On TOUR With LBG".:thumright

It's been so much fun going through all of the Brian Gay threads (seems like a really great guy) from last year, through to this one right here and seeing how well he is doing. I look forward to the day (not too far in the future at this rate) when Brian does the deed and we can all celebrate. Congratulations to you both for how well your going Brian. :occasion:

You've got another fan here Brian =D> Good luck this week!!
