Is the right shoulder down plane literal?
I am working more and more towards getting my right shoulder to travel more down plane.
That said I do have a question. Should the right shoulder be actually ON the plane, or slightly under, or slightly above? Does it matter? My right shoulder tends to be slightly above plane at the top of my back swing and driving parallel to the plane while my hands are on plane. Is this a problem that needs to be corrected? I can get it directly on plane with a flatter shoulder turn but it feels a bit odd to say the least. |
Grant,
With the system YODA teaches, the entire goal of the backstroke is to turn the right shoulder back to the plane at top from where it is driven directly down plane. Simplicity! :golf: Kevin |
So then I should be focusing on getting the point of my right shoulder to be DIRECTLY ON that plane line at the end of my back swing and getting that shoulder to drive STRAIGHT DOWN DIRECTLY ON the plane line in the forward swing correct?
Just making 100% sure.:golf: |

The last picture is at the "END OF FOLLOW THROUGH". Please notice that the Right Shoulder is STILL On Plane.

Grant , here is something to consider.
Given the "ground up" Downswing Sequence, 6-M-1. You dont want to fire the arms from the Top. No Sir. That would be "top down". You want a sequential firing. Skipping ahead to Startdown , in the ideal, the shoulders, the Right Shoulder specifically drags the Hands, the #3pp down plane. The only way this can happen is if both the Hands and the Right Shoulder are on Inclined Plane! The TSP. Homer said we should all feel like we are hitting the ball with our Right Shoulders. That thought along with some Extensor Action can really change things for the better. Research Startdown Waggles. It is THE drill of drills to my mind. Its covered nicely in the Premium Address Routine video. You'll learn to Slide (with a Delayed Turn) to Tilt the Axis , which lowers the Right Shoulder while the Head stays centered, Hula Hula. Its a beautiful drill. You'll learn to love it. I do two after every pull shot.......one in the morning with breakfast two in the evening prior to going to bed. |
