Is that correct, or should the first sentence say PP #1 not PP #4?
You are correct. The misprint was corrected in the seventh edition. It is only recommended when maximum power is needed, you can stand the risk and you don't have a longer club to go to (the driver).

While you only have to learn one pattern, the more skilled player will need to understand the minor differences. That being said, the mechanic of your stroke should produce a feel, the feel will reproduce your motion. That is the important point. Ingrain the "FEEL" into you motion so that its subconscious programming can automatically create the motion without conscious thought. Most players never develop these feels (controls), never develop the total feel (sensation) of the motion to the point where the ball and all other distractions become inconsequential.
