However, certain shots just don't seem to agree with me with hitting. Short game shots around the green really have me suffering as a hitter and I just can't seem to get distance and trajectory control at all. These closer shots just seem to come natural as a swinger and I feel completely relaxed and smooth with great results.

I found that when I hit, especially around the greens I tend to hit a lot of lower driving chips and pitches, a lot of down and out. I have since learned that too much shaft lean can be counter productive. Obviously this delofts the club and the ball takes off hot. Experiment with different degrees of shaft lean, before discarding hitting as a short game option. I love to use # 1 Acc. around the greens, it helps me stay aggressive. Shaft lean is a good thing, but when you don't want maximum crunch it tends to make you look like a gorilla with boxing gloves on!
