In the new FedExCup world, not all PGA TOUR events are created equal. Those held 'opposite' more important tournaments, e.g., the British Open or the limited field World Golf Championships events, receive only one-half the normal allotment of FedExCup points (25,000). And the season-ending seven events of the Fall Series receive a zero FedExCup award.

What does all this have to do with The Masters and the trip down Magnolia Lane? Simply this: In order to qualify for a Masters invitation, the event won must carry full points.

So, today's Viking Classic champion will have to settle for an official win and a first-place prize money of $648,000. Now, that's plenty of green, but unfortunately . . .

Not Masters green.
