I have recently gone to a cross-handed, push putting stroke with virtually no shoulder movement. It is hitting, not swinging, with the putter, using the basic motion pattern; modeled after the old Nicklaus method. So far it has worked well. Putting is so much about touch and confidence that I would say if your putts are going in with your grip, it does not need cleaning up.
