I agree that grips should fit so when holding with the left hand the middle and ring finger should just touch the pad. I like the grips from Tom Wishon where the lower part is slightly larger with less taper. I have always buit up this part with tape but his grips are excellent and already done for me. I also agree that this larger size should help with hitting.
