A hammering/chopping motion.
Is it a good thing to try to make the vertical motion/uncocking of the left wrist be more active and distinct as a downward motion thru impact (together with the roll of the left forearm/wrist)? Does this make sense - in order to get more crisp and powerful 3-D hits?

But to hit downward in vertical motion on plane the left wrist must have turned quite a lot, I quess, to get the correct angle down on the ball and into the turf to the low point. Just to hammer vertical right down to the ball and ground isn't what happens in reality - it must come more like a sideways hammering motion, or..? (And that's the job of the feet and hips / pivot and tracing right forearm?)

For the Swinger's Sequenced Release, his Left Hand is turned flat to the plane and the direction of the Left Wrist's Uncocking is always Down Plane and Towards the Plane LIne. Its a "Vertical" Left Wrist Motion , but turned to the Plane and pointed at the Base LIne in other words.

"Delivery Line Uncocking Prep. Delivery LIne Roll Prep".

Uncocking then Rolling, sequentially for the Swinger with the Number Two Throwout often Triggered by either an Automatic or Non Automatic ("active" as you say) Left Wrist Throw. A hammering like motion but down plane.

Try the Non Auto Wrist Throw if you're a Swinger, you might like it and know that this is Throw Out as opposed to Throw Away......when properly executed , when followed by a Roll as opposed to the common chicken wing and bending left wrist ( a result of Steering of the Face straight to the hole). Rolling is a cure for the bending left wrist.

The Non Auto Throws can add some zip to the ball and be a gateway to the Automatic Throws , Snap Release etc when combined with the Aiming Point Procedure. Nothing wrong with a Non Auto Left Wrist Throw however.....you could go with that forever if you so choose. Perhaps Mike Austin's "power throw" relates to this procedure, not 100 percent sure on it. You'll also note how adjusting your Release Point alters Trajectory.

For short shots an early application of a Non Auto Wrist Throw but this time without a Roll (Single Wrist Action) can make for a wonderful flop shot, or sand shot procedure. With lots of zip on the ball.

Come to think of it, it can seem Vertical to the ground and wood chopping like at times when you severely increase your Angle of Attack. Take Seve's fried egg shot here, looks like a non auto thowout of #2 to me but as always its very hard to say for sure. Sort of like a masse shot in pool. He slams the club down into the sand on a super steep angle of attack, having the ball back a bit in the stance helps.

Thanks. That was an answer just like I was hoping for.

Glad you liked it.......its a topic worthy of its own thread, perhaps. There are some lingering questions for sure.

In my 6th, Homer doesnt really describe the "active hammering" so to speak but I did learn it from Lynn and I believe Lynn is on record as quoting Homer as saying something to the effect of; "Its called a Throw and it is a throw". Which to me implies more of the active hammering thing for the Wrist Throw anyways.

Id say there are some as yet undefined versions of the Non Auto Wrist Throw, or any Throw for that matter. Some Non Auto Triggers that arent an "active hammering" and some that are, perhaps? A sub set of Non Auto Wrist Throws? If you initiate a Roll of the Left Hand off the Inclined Plane to Trigger Release wouldnt that be a Non Auto , Wrist Throw but without the active hammering?

Definitions again! On the course that last procedure would just feel like Full Sweep Release to me and nothing like a Wrist Throw , active hammering deal. Say for a high floating shot over a tree etc.

Maybe this is more classroom chalk talk but on the course it is the stuff of short shot genius. Why? Because these intentions are the opposite of "Downswing Blackout". Like the pool shark's intentions for the contact between cue and ball. They are cause and effect.

"Delivery Line Prep.........Delivery LIne Uncocking Prep....Delivery Line Roll Prep. Why? Because thats where The Golfing Machine LIVES, thats why".
