I am looking for some drills to help me release the club better (at impact)...I understand this to be the 'swivel'? I have been taking lessons with Ted for awhile and feel that I have greatly improved over the years - but this topic continues to plague me. I'd like to work on it before I take another lesson.
I feel I am losing lots of distance in that I don't have that 'pop' at impact.
I am naturally right hand dominant, but swing lefty - which may be hurting my ability to left my left hand take over at impact/finish.
Feel like I hold on thru the finish....
What drills can I do to ingrain the proper feeling?

Put a brick on the floor. Line up in impact position. Then push the brick forward until the club slides over the brick on its way to to finish position.

Paul, I feel your pain. Im also a lefty that is right hand dominant....very right hand dominant. While training your left arm and hand is critical, your dominant is going to take over every time. I spent a lot of time working on my left hand and it's role, and have been better served knowing where it is during the swing (or at least it's neighborhood)
but again, when it's time to move the golf club, mine and your right hand is going to grab the feel controls every time. You've got to embrace it to an extent...if you're a swinger, you're not going to sense the loading of the #3 pp anyway, which makes it even more allusive to us.
You need to allow the #2 accumulator to be the boss, (sensed in the bottom fingers of your right hand), and pull pull pull.
Once you've started down, pull down, pull down, and pull some more. If you're applying these forces properly and at the right time, you won't be able to stop the release on the other end.....it'll fly outta there.
Drill: Grab a taly and hit some half shots with a 7 or 8 iron. Using the full roll feel of horizontal hinging, see how hard you can roll your right arm,flat right wrist, and the clubface WITHOUT hitting the clown's nose. If you're sustaining lag pressure, you'll be shocked at how hard you can seem to roll the clubface closed through the impact interval without the ball going right. If it's hooking, you probably hit the clown nose. If not, you started the roll too early. Even though we use a sequenced release, the feeling of it happening late and in a small window makes the club heavy and the ball loud ...some call it an inconsistent snap release, I call it KATHOONGA! OR SHABAM!
