Kevin, you are gracious, intelligent, wise and so right to point out EA!

Here is a quick tutorial.

EXTENSOR ACTION assists in keeping the left arm straight as well as helping maintain the structure of the power package and Flat Left Wrist at impact. Generally Extensor Action is applied via pressure point #1, the heel pad under your right thumb pressing against the first knuckle of your left hand. Here are 4 ways Homer Kelley says Extensor Action is important:
1) the full extension of the Left Arm at all times
2) the full extension of the Right Arm for the Follow-through
3) the correct rate of “Clubhead Closing”
4) the proper type of support for “passive” (non-accelerating 6-C-0) Clubhead Lag Pressure involving Wristcock.
It is not a very strong pressure. Try putting a wind breaker on with your left arm not in the sleeve. Use your right hand to grip the left sleeve just as though it was a golf club. Keep the sleeve straight during a golf swing. That little bit of tension is all it is.
Extensor Action is a huge key to the Golfing Machine and I don't see it discussed very much in other teachers methodologies...

Study EXTENSOR ACTION. Take 2 aspirin, and call us in the morning.

I believe EA should be stronger than a "little bit " of tension and that EA creates a natural bio-mechanical coordination or synching up of the movements of the torso to the arms and hands.
EA is a "force multiplier" that enables "the endless belt effect" whereby the hands are dropped to "belt high" and effortlessly accelerated, smoothly and powerfully down, out and forward through the ball and up, back, and in to the finish of the stroke or swing.
I believe that EA creates club head lag and gives it heaviness, strength, and the shape of the plane so that the club head is thrown DOWN through the Base Line of the Plane while maintaining Impact Fix hands.
EA can and should be used with every stroke. It gives precise aim, as well as power to the smallest chip and putt, to pitch and punch shots with any club from any distance, to drives of any distance.
A golfer who does not use EA is doomed to wander in search of a golf swing filled with power and precision for years. They usually have very strange quizzical looking avatars and live WSW in a suburb of Chicago.
You have been warned!
