Sectional Qualifying Results
Brian Gay was among 110 golfers competing for 13 spots yesterday in Memphis. He shot 71-70 / 141 and missed by three.

Seems strange to me that guy in the top 20 in the USA owgr should have to qualify for his national open championship!

Oh well, just have to wait for sunny Scotland then

The world's "best" 144 will not play this week. Truth is, that field probably played a few weeks back at THE PLAYERS Championshp.

Get ready for the raft of players who won't break 150 (+10), or even 160 (+20), for the first 36.

It's the nature of the beast.

Although Brian won't be at the U.S.Open...it's nice to see David Duval coming back to form and qualifying.

As we all now know, Brian was a last-ditch qualifier with his second calendar year PGA TOUR win at Memphis. Where he is -- putting green, practice tee or on the course -- I am likely to be close.

Please . . .

All who are there for Brian -- in his gallery, in the stands, at the ropes or wherever -- flag me down. Gesture wildly if you must. Just know that I want to meet you and say "Hello"!

Now this is a unique attitude. Way to go Yoda. Hope the New Yorkers can overcome their characteristic shyness for you to accomplish this.

The stuff from last year's USPGA was priceless, a fantatstic insight into the mind of a top tour player, his coach and caddy.

Congratulations to Brian and you, on a what a way to qualify for the Open !!!

Is he going to play a practice round Wednesday? If so do you know what time?
