Hinge Action As A Downward Motion

Yoda,

I am not sure if this is the place or time but, I do have one more question in regards to Hinge Action. If it will be covered elsewhere in this thread, then I will clean this post.

Is it not true, that Hinge Action takes place from Impact to Separation? If so, then Hinge Action actually is a downward motion? It also then would place one's selected Hinge Action in the ground?

Like I said, if I am jumping ahead, me will cleanup.

Thanks

It is true that the Hinge Action actually affects the Ball only during thefleeting moment of Impact. However, the Hinge Action Motion itself is made fromImpact to the end of the Follow-Through (the Both Arms Straight Position). Also, where Left Wrist Action other than the Swinger's Standard Wrist Action(10-18-A), Hinge Action (Hand Motion) can substitute for Wrist Action fromthe Top of the Stroke. And, actually even during Start Up.

But to your point. It is also true that, except when the Ball is positioned atLow Point, the Hinge Action is executed as a Down Plane Motion. And,that is a good thought -- actually, a great thought! -- for the player to keepin mind. However, it is also important that the player maintain the separateidentities of the various concepts, especially the Three Major Concepts onwhich so much detail hangs: Angular Motion (its Geometry and itsCentrifugal Force), the Inclined Plane and Hinge Action.

The Downward Orbit of the Clubhead is the Plane of Motion concept (2-fand2-N-0) and Clubface Alignment is the Hinge Action concept (2-G). Per 1-L#16:

"The Plane Line controls the Clubhead Line-Of-Flight. Clubfacealignment controls the Ball Line-Of-Flight."
