IMHO ,a bungee cord is better-only because you can keep it taught on the follow through as well

I am sure that with your level of creativity you can come up with a better use for bungee cords.

I understand that you can buy "Bucket proofed" versions in all good hardware stores, so put your mind to this project and report back.
