Metal Spikes!!!
 

If I promise not to slip and fall in the clubhouse will you let me put metal spikes back in my shoes? The difference is ENORMOUS.?!

The plastic spikes are imo a joke. I've been slipping on plastic spikes that are half new. Their existence only proves that technical innovation doesn't always lead to progress...

I want golf shoes with good & patterned rubber soles. They will stick in most conditions and you wan't have to replace those plastic spikes several times a year either.

I used to run (cross country) orienteering when I was young. We didn't follow tracks, but found our own way through the forest. This often included some of the worst surfaces you can imagine. Rubber soles work pretty well everywhere except on wet & slippery rocks. Metal spikes is the only thing that guarantees you good grip on anything, but it is not good for your health to walk on metal. A good rubber sole should be plenty good for golf. Any golf shoe manufacturers listening here?

I find those trail shoes to be very serviceable for golf. Comfortable, waterproof, light, sturdy, molded sole for grabbing ground, etc. I wear golf shoes most of the time, but these work well also.

Maybe they help him with his back problems?

A friend of mine wears the ecco's . He swears they have superior grip to them.

He is typically full of b.s. though. Hope he's reading this....those shoes look weird Mark, get some icons for crying out loud and stop talking about how great your feet feel. Sheez..

OB, you must try these DAWGS. They are amazingly light and have no fabric and very little structure. They look like the trendy, fashionable CROCs. When Kevin and Jerry saw mine, they said "Hmmm, City, those are trendy and fashionable!" :laughing9

Seriously though, they allow your feet to sink into the ground and really grip the surface and they were $35. Your socks will get wet during the first couple holes but they are so well ventilated that the socks dry quickly. And when it is summer and really hot out, it is refreshing to play without socks as it is like walking barefoot in wet grass.

I often wear my Hawaiian shirts and floppy hat to complete the tropical look.

And, I have been known to order a pitcher of Pink Lemonade for my friends. I would order Pink Lemonade for Win McMurray and Shaniah Twain, for example!

Those Dawgs are indeed quite the trend setters. If you paid $35 for them, however, you may have overpaid just a bit. I'd get a pair myself, but if I dont' get rid of about 25 lbs, I'm afraid I'd make those Dawgs whimper.

Over in the UK we are much more traditional about spikes so only a few courses actually have rules stating that soft spikes should be used (including, sadly, the Old Course). I use steel spikes in my footjoys and do like them but this year bought some addidas shoes for the first time with the traxion sole - they are awesome grippers of the turf!

Oliver Wilson recently sported a pair of these on the golf course and I notice Jeev Milkha Singh's caddy wearing them too.

I've seen some people wear them in the gym and they swear by them. They look a bit too funky for the golf course I reckon though!

I want a pair in blue, to match my eyes!
