What kind of magic happens with this right forearm? I have had the same right forearm together with a golf club the last 21 years and nothing magical has happened yet.
|
Air, you will discover the MAGIC of the right forearm. I have been a lifelong 30+ handicapper. I bought the "yellow book" in December 2009 and have been devouring TGM ever since. By God's good timing, I found this web site. I have been applying some of Lynn's teachings for just over 2 weeks, but even I am beginning to discover the MAGIC of the right forearm. As I get better at it, my right forearm will be worth its weight in gold.

If you Cock the Left Wrist with the Left Forearm Muscles, then the Right Wrist will also Cock.
But, if you allow the Right Elbow and Forearm to Cock the Left Wrist, then the Right Wrist will remain Level. The Center of the Radius of the Left Wrist Cocking Motion is the Right Elbow and Right Shoulder. They travel a smaller Radius than the Left Arm and thus Cock the Left Wrist as the Club is Raised to the Top of the Swing. |
Ok, this is seriously good stuf, D, again!

The shorter front leg means I have lots of down but not lots of finish swivel? Possible solutions: 1) Make my right leg my anchor and turn around my knee as I swing (and play the ball back a bit to get some semblance of the Arc of Approach?) 2) Shorten my clubs by an inch and 3/4 to balance the imbalance? 3) Can I just drive my right arm straight down while choking down on my clubs (JerryG suggestion)? 4) Kevin had me opening my front foot angle to Pivot more easily, but that puts a lot of pressure on the artificial hip which is not a good long term solution, but what if I stand side-saddle and use the right longer leg as THE POST to swing around? 5) Do I pretend I'm playing off a permanent down-hill slope and bend my right knee a lot and choke up on the club? It seems like the more I RFT and EA, the better my stroke. When I really widened my stance in a Moe Norman imitation and turned around my knees, I had my best competitive round ever, shooting an 84 and crushing every shot except my driver. I'm open to suggestions since this is something I have puzzled over for 10 years! Thanks, D! YBGF |
The problem isn't your shorter Left Leg. It's your Longer Right Leg. Bend the Right Knee slightly more and use a Right Anchor.
This is a very strong advantage for you and I was considering only spotting you 8 strokes because of it. Most golfers can't get the Right Hip Forward enough (toward the target) because they run out of Right Leg. It's a fact. But you don't run out of right leg. Look at Hogans Right Leg at Impact. I bet he would like another inch or two and so would I. You should give me back two strokes. :) |
Since you are so hospitable...

Thanks for the analysis Daryl. My Spring break is 4/18-21 but Yoda might need a break from all the Master's hoopla. I'll have to see how the Cuscowilla folks run their stuff and I think I'll find out when I send my reservation early next week. In any case, it's a trip I will enjoy and who knows who might be around? :golfcart: YBGF |

Don't worry, Yoda, If I'm too far ahead on the 18th, the metal rod in my left leg might act up to spare the boy the pain. I have a lot invested in that new friendship! YBGF |
