A question to Daryl

Basic Motion, chip shots, Right Arm Only, intact Right Arm Flying Wedge, Tracing the Plane Line, from bent Elbow to Straight Elbow. The Right Hand doesn't pass the navel even when the right arm is straight.
...

I'm not sure why the right hand must not pass the navel. Doesn't impact fix have the hands in front of the naval and that's where we come back to at impact or have I misunderstood this?

Hmm? I feel really stupid for saying that. Set-up with Square Stance, Plane and Target Line, AND Basic Motion Stroke (non-Pivot), the Right Hand will pass the Navel.

That's the 953rd time I've been wrong. :) It's pretty hard to live with the fact that after all of these years, I'm still wrong most of the time. Now I have to run 3 miles just to recover from this stress.

I didn't want to cause any embarrassment. I have the bad habit of asking whenever I don't understand something - and that's most of the time.

There is never such a thing as a silly question when you don't know!

I like the idea of adding the pivot, though, to assure getting the navel toward the target. Something I have a tough time ingraining.
Nice discussion here. Thanks.

Pivot Motion (minimal) is ok in Basic, Pivot Work however is a common add and a bad one. Basic Motion is an Arm Shot, Zone 2 as described in 12-3 anyways although a lot of guys employ Pivot Putting Zone 1 in the field. In any event its best to keep Basic to one Accumulator only, so dont let your Zone 1 motion turn into actual work or you'll have two accumulators at work....... unnecessarily complicated for such a low powered shot. Sorta like an old VW Beatle with four aftermarket Italian carburetors. Not so smooth and requiring a lot of tuning.

The photos of Brian Gay chipping which can be found on this site show some ("minimal") Pivot Motion but zero Work.............something I asked Yoda about at St Andrews this past July. Turns out Homer made a slight change to 12-3 in the 7th that I wasnt aware of. Old Course , Old Yoda.......they've both seen it all.

I'm guessing there are more Italians or people of Italian heritage in the USA and Canada, then there are Canadians. Canadians have produced lots of cool things too, like hockey players, the ROM, and Toronto.

Nah no racial slur intended. For the record Italian carburetors were the best back when I was sooping up my old VW Karmann Ghia. Although I was constantly under hood trying to figure out how to get the them all to stop idling so rough. In the end I went back to stock, one single Solex was all that machine required.

Sorta like Basic Motion requiring only one "accumulatore".

Or....working on one zone at a time?

I now love my Pivot, and my hands go way past my belly button along with the rest of the Power Package!:)
