Cory Pavin's wonderful swing comments?

Hiya

Appreciate any views/comments on the Pavin swing in link above. I really like it. I've viewed literally thousands of swings over the years but My TGM knowledge is very limited and with your guys help i'd like to perhaps develop my understanding of whats good about this particular swing. I know he's a short hitter etc. but he seems to have a good rhythm etc. and clearly he's great at impact. I know too he's a great putter and has one of the best short games ever (?) and thats a big factor in his success but i'm not really interested is those details it's his swing i'm really interested it.

I'm curious about his lack of shoulder turn and what seems to me to be a fairly quiet lower body (going back anyway). It looks all arms and (i bet i'm wrong here...) he looks like a hitter? I.e. everything seems to come from a pushing motion controlled by the right hand / forearm from the top of the swing? To me again, he makes it look so easy, i know all quality players do that but his swing just looks so simple.

Thnaks in advance for any feedback.

The one thing that jumps out at me is how little axis tilt he has on the downswing...I understand to much is not good (such as in my swing) but I have never seen that in a swing.

Hey gmbtempe, thanks for the reply!!

No one else... really? :(

It's just there are SO many people in here, that know so much about the swing, and I was really hoping to get some views and insight into the Pavin pattern.

No worries though, some folks might just enjoy the shots of his swing I posted :)

Ta! :salut:

Pavin a TGMer

Pavin is a TGM golfer....also uses a 10-20-C trigger type. Per Pavin's "Shotmaking" book (hardcover edition) pages 28 and 29. "I do not subscribe to the philosophy of the downswing occurring "from the ground up". I feel that if I swing down with my shoulders, my hips will follow. However, if I begin the downswing by turning my hips or driving with my legs, the shoulders don't necessarily have to follow. If the shoulders go first, it's much easier for everything to unwind naturally. You'll hit the ball solidy with greater consistency, and there's no loss of power. I'll hammer away at this theme more later."

Pavin's procedure is a swinging stroke pattern. I'm sure he also knows how to hit.
