Impact Fix - weight balance
If you set up with iImpact fix where would your weight be? 50/50 of more weight on the lead foot? Im finding if I *feel* like I set up with more weight on the lead foot im able to use the right hand to just go back and drive through - not sure why . maybe im staying on top of the ball better?

Impact Fix
There's definitely more weight on the front foot, as if you were at Impact. Because of the location of the Right Hip and the need to clear it, you may see the club start slightly outside the Plane in Start Up.

All kidding aside...the following in blue is the text from the 6th edition. Following the text from the book are Homer's revisions, in red for the re-writing of the 7th edition. 10-9-B IMPACT The identifying feature of this position is that the Hands and the Body both remain in Impact Position. The Left Wrist F/L/V Condition must be maintained or it becomes merely a transitional Forward Press motion. This position eliminates the “middleman” – Address – and its advantages and hazards. It accentuates the Impact condition (Fix) feel. It encourages stiffer and stronger structure and motion and is especially useful for “Hitting”. See 7-9. INSERT PICTURE!!!!!!!! 1. PG 162, 10-9-B, paragraph 1, rewrite - "The identifying features of this position are: 1. The Body remains in Standard Impact Fix position. 2. The Hands remain in Impact Fix Location and Condition. 2. PG 162, 10-9-B, paragraph 2 - rewrite "This arrangement encourages a Non-Lagging Clubhead Takeaway for Lag Loading per 7-19-1 and 7-20". Homer was human, although smarter than ten of us put together. In the revisions, he used the words, "remove", "delete sentence", "delete paragraph", "change to read", "clarify", "rewrite", etc. So, it's unclear to me whether he wanted the entire paragraph deleted and replaced with the lone sentence, or if he wanted a sentence replaced. I'd like to ask him. So, I have to use the entire body of his work to make judgements, including all the Master's classes audio tapes. Personally, I found it very useful for the development of the Hitting pattern. And, even if he wanted it totally replaced, it helps to know the text from the 6th so that we can see the evolution of his thoughts. |
Big Help....
I am learning the hitting method at present.
It would be very useful if Ted would describe in basic language, the steps of the hitting pattern from start to finish. |
driver
It is easy to get more weight forward when hitting aquired motion, or shorter clubs, but is this still true with longer clubs?
Seems to cause too steep of an angle of attack creating very spinny shots especially with driver. Should fix be relaxed a bit with driver, I rember somewhat from adress routine video that Ted still had his hands in fix but does the body stay in fix location? |
Could it be that IMPACT Fix as an optional Address Position is not a duplicate of Impact, which would be supported by the differences of Chapter 8 photos.
