Case for thinner grips?
I have found that when I grip down a bit my grips fit very snugly under the heel pad and the first knuckle of the index finger...spot where the 6th finger would be! Does this suggest that my grips are too thick?
|
Even though a lot has been said about thin vs thicker grips I'm hesitant to make the switch. I've swung a few clubs with slightly thicker grips and they feel really good. I feel more attached to the club or something. I play with standard.
Has anyone made the switch to thicker or thinner grips? What do you think of them? |
I tried thinner grips once---and found that the club was slipping in my hands too much. Wore out a grip in about 7 days. Back to standard for me.

Give it a Go
This is my own experience and it may or may not apply to others. As an experiment, I ran some thinner grips for about 3 months. I was able to sense PP#2 better, but didn't feel like I had as much roll control with the left wrist. It was a good experience simply to be able to "get to know" pressure point #2 but wasn't worth the lack of clubface control.
Now that I'm back to my standard grips, I haven't lost the feel for #2. Once you get it, it doesn't go away. Its early enough in the season that you can experiment a bit. Why not? |

So far so good, will decide in February if they stay for the entire season. CG |
Hmm? Is mid size larger than standard size? When I tried larger than my size, the right arm Flying Wedge seemed less wobbly.

Mid-size Grips

I think Yoda is using mid-sized grips. CG |
I think he does too.
I'm going to have them installed and give it a try. |
Grips and Wedges
A year ago, at the PGA show, Leadbetter said that many or the
Tour Pros were using thinner grips on their Wedges for better feel? |
