Jim Furyk's golf swing
Can anyone tell me why Jim Furyk's golf swing is so effect and no one is copying his swing? Can someone tell me in Golfing Machine terms about his swing, I would really appreciate the imput...Thanks Jack:)

landongolf,
Furyk's swing works because he has the flying wedges at impact and he traces a straight plane line through impact. I would not teach it to the average person because it has to many extra moves and requires to much repetition or practice to ingrain which the average guy doens't have the time or will to put in that much time. I believe Furyks is one of the stongest mental player's in the world as well to have that many people critique his swing and still stick with it getting to the level he has....that is truly why he's a great champion!! Lots of Swinging on this Jungle Jim
For starters: His customized Plane Angle Variation is a Double Shift (10-7-C) up to what could be termed an "Ear" Plane: Hazardous for the average golfer.
However, he does have the Three Imperative intact and a great shortgame. |

TGM can support individual "My Way" procedures but no "The Way" theory. What works for some may not be right for everyone. While the "Uncompensated" Stroke is recomended, TGM does make allowances for individual Variations (physical or psychological). Your best way is what is most important. |

The Plane Variation looks to me like a Reverse Loop 10-7-G. His right elbow gets into nearly a Push position 10-3-C by Release position, but is probably technically a Punch. He uses a Double Overlap Grip...little finger and ring finger overlapped. He uses a Float Loading type of procedure... Downstroke cocking of the wrist. He is one of the BEST PLAYERS IN THE WORLD. He came up with a way he could strike the ball well, and well under pressure, and stuck with it. One probably would not teach his pattern, but if a teacher spots someone, especially a young player, with an unusual technique, that still strikes the ball well, he should observe the player closely for a while. If the player strikes the ball well, and especially if the player has pretty good IMPACT INTERVAL, and RELEASE positions, he should most likely be left alone to beat his opponents... just like Mr. Furyk. |
To Bray, Drewitgolf and Lagster, I can't thank you enough for your comments. Since I tried this by chance the other day and it worked so well for me, I just wanted to make sure I could repeat the pattern. Understanding this stroke pattern well is very important to me, so please keep your comments coming, Thanks Jack

Who could be the first to name the variations of the 24 components of Jim furyk's swing and win the big prize. Jack

Furyk is not original!
Furyk is a great golfer. He is not the first to use this pattern. Can we say Hogan, Trevino, and Couples?:salut:
