A few people did this for their wedges and it worked a treat. You dip the irons or the affected area of the iron into coke (yes the stuff that you drink) So I suppose you could do the same for a set of irons. It amazing what it can remove......and I am still surprised that I'd still drink the stuff!!

IF coke doesn't work try Taco bell hot sauce. It works on copper penny!:laughing9

How about using some sandpaper. Rust is common over the clubhead surface if you leave them wet after cleaning them, or if rain gets inside the bag. In the caddy house they commonly try to take it off with sandpaper or a simimlar procedure. They did so with my Ben Hogan Sand Wedge, after leaving the clubs kept for a long time without use or taking them outside to the field.

Hey Bucket,
Why do I get the feeling this thread is somehow connected to the Bucket buying iron sets cheap thread from a week or so back?

You broke the code! I have purchased THE MOST BEAUTIFUL SET OF IRONS . . . Macgregor Muirfields that one Jack Nicklaus used to win the 1986 Masters (not the set of course). Got 'em from a pawn shop dealer that shipped 'em in a shotgun box (bet he didn't catch hell in the post office). They smelt like unfilter Marlboro's. But they are gorgeous satin forged butter knives. Here's a pic of the new babies . . . ![]() Anybody who wants to buy an old set . . . I got a set of Hogan Precisions that I'll sell for $60 plus shipping. That's what I got in 'em. They are pretty. Not in pristine shape . . . but pretty good for a set of clubs made in the 50's. Very pretty lines. ![]() |
Purty
Congrats Bucket!
Those Muirfields are purty. The boys at the course will take notice when the Buck shows up with those babies in tow. And then when they hear them babies producing compression pops........look out !!!!!!! You may win ya a bunch of moon pies with those. UPP in snowed under Ohio |
