hitting thin

From the driver down to about a 7 iron I am striking the ball better than I ever have.
However my short irons are almost all thin to some degree.
Anyone have any ideas??

One possibility is ball position. Another is a bent left wrist at impact. Others would be swaying or bobbing. Finally, a lack of extensor action could do it.

But, check the wrist first.

thanks luke I'll look at those things. I tend to play every club just inside my left heel. If my stance was too wide,, could that be a problem?

ball position and stance width

The ball has to move back in the stance or "up plane" as the clubs get shorter. Having a wide stance can contribute greatly to the problem as it moves the fulcrum (the left shoulder) back. Having a wide stance is the same as having the ball even farther forward in the stance. You're double dipping in the forward ball position category.

question for Luke

Luke.
played 54holes this weekend, really focusingon stance width and shoulder turn. seemed to help a lot. do have another question though. do you move the ball back with the shorter clubs or narrow your stance.

You can do either, I believe.

Where have you been, Luke?

Well, for starters....

He has just tonight finished the 268.66 mile drive to Valdosta, Georgia, where he will be playing in a two-day Georgia Section PGA event.

Has the young Yedi Knight been preparing for this most auspicious event? No-o-o-o...

And just why not?

Well, other than the cold and rain we've had here the past two weeks...

Not to mention the demands of his lesson book...

He has spent the last three days in Alpharetta, Georgia, as a Main Platform speaker at the Section's all-day 'Open House' to the public.

Hey, Ted, haven't you heard? You wanna be a playa? Ya gotta play!

You wanna teach? Ya gotta teach!

Guess you wanna teach. :)

And the students say...

"Amen!"

Good luck in the tourney Ted.....

65-65 ought to do it ;)

Can you 'see' it? I bet you can!
