Most memorable shots this year?
What's been your most memorable shots this year?
I've had two that I probably will remember for quite some time. The first was a low fade from the rogh - some 220 yards away from the pin. Cleared the rough and stayed below the low hanging branches. The ball somehow bounced over a bunker and found the green and saved par. I hit it with my driver. 8* loft. Probably the hardest driver I hit this year. And one of the best for sure. 220 yards on this course is about my max comfort distance from the fairway. :p The second: Eagled the 340 yards 18th hole at Canoustie's Burnside course. Hit the driver 340.5 yards, and sank the 5 footer. :cool: I actually misread the line from the tee. That was compensated by an unintentional push. Neither did I produce my max ball speed. But the wind picked up as the ball was reaching it's apex. It was almost unbelievable to find the ball so incredibly close to the flag. :D In the evening the golfing god's were honoured with a bottle of champagne and then some. ;) Bernt |

Waconah Country Club in August. Down six shots to my brother after the Tenth hole. Had back to back birdies and shot a 38 on the back nine to tie him. The last putt was a 18 footer on the 18th green that I sunk. The head pro and observers were outside on the balcony watching as I made the putt. They cheered as I lifted my putter!!!!!!.

At the 8th, par 3, at MacGregor Downs in Cary, NC with two greenies riding my dad and I were playing a couple of his friends. I hit the green to about 20 feet after my dad missed in the bunker. Our opponents stuck one to about 3 feet. There was quite a lot of good natured gamesmanship and comments of a 'lucky' shot....
Next hole (par 5) we've pressed the 9. My drive is in the sticks in jail, but I manage to hit a great recovery to about 140. Standing next to our opponent who hit the 'lucky' shot on the last to take the greenies I said... "now its my turn to be 'lucky'.... hit a beautiful 3/4 knockdown 8 iron to a foot. The 'lucky' opponent was quiet the rest of the day, especially when I finished birdie, birdie to win $20 off of him. I supposed my 'favorite' shots of the year were at OCN on the first hole playing with Lynn - nice 35 footer for birdie. Keeping up with Ted with the driver and putter on at least a few occasions that trip was also a blast :) |
My drive from the tips on 18th at TPC Sawgrass Stadium course the day after seeing Yoda, YodasLuke et al.
There it was. The hardest hole on the PGA Tour. Tour scoring average 4.37. After a ridiculous four-putt double bogey on 16 and a very undramatic par on 17. The drive sailed over the water, caught a speedbump and landed in spot A on the fairway. Continued - for some reason - with an unusual low, sweet 6-iron punch to 8 feet and holed the curveball for birdie. Way to cap off the trip to the US and head home again. |
My most memorable
Two of my most memorable shots both occured on the same hole - a 525yd par 5.
The first was a 220yd 5 wood to 3 feet, then made the eagle putt. The second was on the same hole when I holed a 25yd bunker shot for another eagle. This was memorable because it was my best bunker shot ever - and it was in a match play event where my opponent was waiting to tap in a birdie putt. :D Oh and one more....I holed a 115yd sandwedge from the fairway for eagle - also in a match play event! |
my best...no, most memorable shot this year...
...was on a 200yd par 3. I overcooked it a little and thought I had lost the ball way long and left behind some trees; a bogey was looking good. Instead, the ball hit squarely off a large tree that was about 15-20 yards back and left of the hole, and the ball shot off the tree straight at the flag! Missed a polie/holie by less than an inch, and putted it in for birdie!
...not good, but memorable :) |
I've always had trouble curving the ball left to right (right hander). Few months ago I needed to hit my hybrid out of some rough, left of some trees then fade against the wind onto a raised green. It come off perfect and I'll never foreget it :D

New here, first post. I hit a 5 wood ob on a 235 yd par 3 and holed the next shot for a 3. Best shot of my life. Also the luckiest shot of my life. But as they say "I'd rather be lucky than good"
