Compatibility Issues

Ever since the "share on Facebook, Twitter, etc. tabs" were added to the website, I have been getting compatibility issues each time I go to a different page in the forum. My browser has to re-load three times before I can view any of your "educational posts". Do I need to update my browser or something else? I am obviously not a computer type person. Using the word "browser" is advanced for me:eyes: .

bambam 03-14-2012 04:41 PM

What browser are you using, Drew?

drewitgolf 03-14-2012 04:44 PM

Internet Explorer.

bambam 03-14-2012 05:09 PM

Do you know what version? If you don't, you can go to help->about internet explorer

I'll look at the issue regardless, but I'd strongly recommend looking at one of these two browsers:

Google Chrome: https://www.google.com/chrome
Firefox: https://www.getfirefox.com

Chrome is my new favorite. It's fast, simple, and it does all the version upgrades behind the scenes so you don't have to worry about it. That said, it's a little different paradigm than what you're used to in Internet Explorer.

Thanks for the tip on the browser, Bam Bam.

City, KC is too busy to sweat. He seems to be in absolute heaven. All he has to do is find a place for he and his wife to live, get a golf course, club house, food/beverage operation all up and running smoothly in about 10 minutes--keep it that way, accommodate members, public and ownership, then he can pick himself up and do it all over again. I am so happy for him. I am very happy it isn't me.
First round of golf will be tomorrow as long as the weather holds. I am just going to concentrate on being Stable, Flying Wedges and Down.
It appears school is pretty rough for you this year. So sorry. I'll start looking for work for you here.

Something happened

I've installed Google Chrome, but I can't get any internet access. None of my bookmarks/shortcuts (or what they are called) on the screen work anymore. I still have to use Firebox but have to write the www addresses each time to get any results. What a mess....

I'm a techno-idiot, but think that must be peculiar to Norway. No problems here in Little Norway (Minnesota).

I don't think that has anything to do with it - I'm in Georgia for the time being.

bummer. Nice to be at The Swamp, but bummer about the browsers.

I probably haven' done it correctly. It's not working - only taken over the sites, but not letting me in.. I still get where I want, but it just takes more time and is very irritating

In my book Yoda is pretty invincible. Have him wave a 7-iron over your laptop. I should work pretty well thereafter.

The Chrome install doesn't touch firefox or internet explorer. Firefox is a good browser; if you're having trouble with Chrome, I'd recommend uninstalling it and sticking with firefox.

What kind of machine, Air?

Air, we have both pc's and mac's by the hundreds here at school. I would not buy a Dell for 39 cents. There is a reason Apple is now worth more than Exxon my friends!

:)

It seems to be order now after I started the laptop again.

I believe it is Internet Explorer 8. This is the only website I have been having trouble viewing.
Whenever I switch to a new topic, the page will refresh a few times before I can read it. I never had that problem until the new shortcut buttons were added to the website. Not a big deal, just a little annoying.

I'll definitely take a look. I would expect to support IE8 OK.

bambam 03-16-2012 11:35 AM

Are any other IE users having issues? I'm posting this from Internet Explorer 9 with no problem. Will try to find a copy of IE8.

nighthawk36 03-25-2012 03:02 AM

For any further people having Problems with the "new" sites, I'd strongly recommend to clear the IE Cache, same aplies to Firefox.

Basically what happens, is IE checking if the content is in its cache before downloading again. This odd behaviour typically occurs a couple of days then the cache is flushed anyhow.

So goto Tools, Options, IE Options and flush the cache, no worries, no harm done.

Cheers
Frank
