Brian and Jay looked good Tuesday at the Wyndham Championship.

I was spent about 3.5 hours working with Garrett Willis.

Was talking with Kip and he said "This course sets up great for Brian!"

Good Luck to all the players this week!

Jeff,

Congratulations on your qualification as a GSEB. :salut:

Are you working with Tour players already or where you already working with Garrett?

Could you give us some background to Garrett, was he on the Golf Channel's Big Break program?

Thanks

No, no... Garrett Willis won the first PGA tournament start he made a number of years ago at Tuscon. He has been back and forth between the PGA and Nationwide Tours ever since.

I got to hang with Henny and J.R. during the practice round. Two GREAT guys. I watched them do their thing on the practice tee and Henny brought me some fried fish and chicken with hush puppies. Then I walked the front nine with them. I asked the boys on the way to the second tee . . . "You got all the fried chicken and fish you can eat and all the balls you can hit on the range . . . tell me again why we left the range?????"

J.R. is IMPRESSIVE. Nice guy too. It was fun to watch my boy Henny and J.R. do their thing.

Talked to B.G. too on the practice tee. He's all fit and stuff. That dude is LEAN and mean. I don't think they make them threads B wears in "husky." So looks like I will not be sporting no white belt anytime soon. Should be a good tournament for the boys.

I got some video of several players including J.R. & B. I just went up and down the fence filming cats on the range. If y'all can tell me how to send it to you I will. I got like 10 minutes worth of swings.

I'm going to head over tomorrow and watch . . .

On Garrett he started using my training device called the Pure Ball Striker about 5 months ago and had some good results with the PBS. I was at the Wyndham Championship on Tuesday and he walked into the Bobby Grace Tour Van, which is owned by Scott Garrison. I was sitting there eating some fried fish, hush puppies, and fries. He had a plate of food and we started talking about the PBS he asked me to work with him so I did. We started with basic motion pitch and worked up to his total motion. We finished off with putting. He gave me a testimonial on the PBS and he asked me if I would be here all week I said no I had to go back to the club in Macon, GA because I just took a new job as head pro at Oak Haven Golf Club. I thanked him and we went on our way after 3.5 hours of work. It was a great experience working with him. Good luck to the entire field this week. Great 1st round of 64 Garrett.

Garrett Willis is a good guy. Driven -- as are all in his league -- and with his own idiosynchrosies. But . . .

A good guy nonetheless.

We have had a couple of 'teaching' moments -- and I do mean moments -- in the past two years on both the Nationwide Tour and the PGA TOUR. And we say hello each time our paths cross. The last time was a putting session in Richmond with a metronome on the brim of his cap and thoughts of 'biting bass below'.

As Jeff has said . . .

Good luck to all who pursue this week's edition of The Land of the Meateaters.

John Riegger in yesterday's second round fired a brilliant 65. This gives him a two-day total of 132, 8-under par, and a T-8.

Jay Williamson added a second 67 and is at 134 and T-18. Brian Gay shot 68 and is at 135 and T-29. Neal Lancaster missed the cut by one after a 69.

Awesome job guys!!!

I remember playing that course. It's a good one. I have fond memories since it's where I had my longest of three aces:
Hole #7, 215, 4 iron, one bounce, ace. :golf:

Yo! Got to watch J.R. a couple of days . . . IMPRESSIVE.

I took my buddy on Thursday and he was like "we're gonna follow WHO???" I said . . . "Dude just wait . . . you'll see." J.R. WAY out played his two playing partners. His ball striking made them look like 10 handicappers. My buddy was like "Damn that dude is a machine huh?" I as like "told you dude. He's a BAAAAAAAD man!"

I walked outta there thinking . . . John plays golf like a figured all the pros would play. Hit it dead flush in the middle of every stinking fairway and then bang it straight at every pin. That's what John did. Hit it in the fairway perfect . . . smoke. Hit it right at the pin perfect . . . smoke another'n. Go to the next tee put it on a peg . . . Repeat. I never saw him put himself in trouble but once and he made a great par.

Fun to watch.
