Tomasello Golf Illustrated Interview
I have no objection to exhibiting the article here.
DG, if you can get it to Bambam, we'll put it up for all to read. Actually, we may have it here somewhere. I remember writing a post on it several years ago. Let me do a quick archive search, and I'll be back. :golfcart2: |

Tom Tomasello Interview
Hello All,
I sent a copy of the Interview to Ben (Bam Bam). I have been sitting on this interview for 20 years...an awesome interview at that!!! I have since taken my Tomasello Instruction up a notch and I'm using standard action and random sweep loading as directed by Mr. Tomasello. If you ever hear Tommy (on video) say the swing sequence is Right Hip Right Arm/Right Arm Left Hip...the Right Hip Right Arm direction is Standard Hip Action and Random Sweep Loading...Random Sweep Loading made the cut for the 7th edition Swinging Stroke pattern for some reason the Standard Hip action didn't...Tommy said it was suppose to make the cut!!! I have been using the standard hip action approach with excellent results....last weekend I was hitting 300 yard drivies and 7 iron, 9 iron and pitching wedge shots to 2 and 3 feet from the hole. The guys I was playing with were saying "it's like you're throwing darts at the hole" Tommy covered the whole spectrum of shots with the Golfing Machine from maximum power to the shortest putts with vertical hinging and everything in between (including using both swinging and hitting stroke patterns on the course....a complete shot maker approach). Also, it's taken me approximately 8 years of dedicated study to totally understand all of the nunaces of Mr. Tomasello's instruction, but think I have finally got it. Thanks Tommy for your influence on TGM and so many golfers (Amateurs and Professionals) DG |
Thanks Delaware Golf.

I like this article thanks guys. And I applaud Mr T's divergent vectors, independent pivot and arms direction , motions. It is a way, a good way, not the only way but I do believe the best way. No tying the pivot to the arms with hankies or whatever. Pivot goes one way the arms go another just like we do all the time in everyday movement , tennis, football whatever.
However, his notion of throwing the club straight down vertically is not square with the Aiming Point or Tracing to my mind. I sorta know what he means but in reality everything is thrown down plane at the plane line or aiming point in terms of intensions to my mind. The divergent vectors of arms and pivot net out to make it so, yes. The arms go up and down the pivot turns around but the intention is always down plane to my mind. Just like in other sports. Just a small point. Hey DG how ya doing. No offense intended. I like TT. Another Marietta guy, didnt know that. Thanks for sharing. |
Thank you DG and Ben for uploading this material. I love to read anything from these great teachers of the machine, and finding differences in their preferences goes a long way to helping us learn!

My favorite part of the interview is TT indicating the only agility needed in golf is the ability to turn the hips and raise and lower the right elbow. Clearly a simplification, but a great one. If I simply drive down my club from the top, it hits the ground a foot behind the ball. If the hips turn that same motion strikes the ball squarely. When your mind gets too filled with thoughts, a good way to play. A thought I have been workiing on, power package moves down and out. The hips provide the forward.
