The Program

The Lynn Blake Golf Academy at Old Waverly will feature comprehensive training in the principles and procedures of Homer Kelley's landmark text, The Golfing Machine®. In an intense, three-day training regimen, you will be led step-by-step to the most effective, efficient golf stroke you are capable of producing at this time. We will begin with understanding the Core Concepts and proceed to build your stroke in three stages: Basic Motion, Acquired Motion and Total Motion. In addition to the Full Stroke, you will learn Short Game Basics and specialty shots that will dramatically enhance your ability to score. You will receive a personalized Video Analysis on CD that will highlight those areas that need work and be given a program to implement on your own for continuous progress and a lifetime of better golf. Finally, you will play twilight golf each afternoon on Old Waverly, perennially ranked the finest golf course in Mississippi and a member of the 2005-2006 Golf Digest America's Greatest 100. Dawn to dark, this will be as good as it gets.

Instructors

<img border="1" align="left" src="/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=2&" style="margin-right:10px;">
Lynn Blake, GSED

Lynn Blake, is one of the few individuals fortunate enough to have been trained personally by Homer Kelley. In January 1982, then an amateur, he received from him the designation GSEM (Golf Stroke Engineering Master). He turned professional soon thereafter, and over the next three years, while continuing his financial business, conducted more than forty golf schools in six states. In the fall of 1984 and after the death of Mr. Kelley, though his golf schools were successful by any definition, he determined that he could no longer 'ride two horses,' and he ceased his golf activities. Twenty years later, he has returned as an authoritative voice of The Golfing Machine®.

In April 2004, he conducted his inaugural 'comeback' Workshop for both professionals and amateurs at the PGA TOUR Academy in St. Augustine, Florida. Over the next eighteen months, ten more sold-out Workshops followed at major resort and private club locations in seven states from coast-to-coast and also in Germany. During this time, he was awarded the GSED (Golf Stroke Engineering Doctor) by The Golfing Machine, LLC. In addition, he has taught numerous Private Workshops for an international clientele including several of the nation's most respected PGA teaching professionals. In January 2006 he was the Lead Instructor teaching 28 PGA professionals at the two-day regional conference of custom clubmaker Henry-Griffitts. In March 2006, he will be a main platform speaker for a full half day before more than 600 professionals of the Swedish PGA. On the PGA TOUR, he was last seen at the 2005 Buick Open, where he worked for three days with Brian Watts, a thirteen-time winner on the Japanese Tour and who tied for first in the 1998 British Open, losing the playoff to Mark O'Meara.

Of his recent accomplishments, he is most proud of LynnBlakeGolf.com, a website formed in January 2005 that he feels is destined to revolutionize the world of conventional golf instruction. With extensive archives and a growing Video Gallery, it now boasts more than 2,000 Registered Members who have contributed more than 21,000 posts to its Forums. Lynn is a prolific writer for the site, logging more than 3,000 posts since its founding.

<img border="1" align="left" src="/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=16" style="margin-right:10px;">

Ted Fort, GSEB, PGA

Ted Fort was elected to membership in the PGA of America in June of 1996. In his first year, the Georgia PGA Section named him Assistant Professional of the Year. He earned the designation Golf Stroke Engineering Bachelor (GSEB) from The Golfing Machine, LLC, in 2004.

Ted's lesson book is filled weekly with satisfied students making serious progress and their referrals. On the Professional Tours, he presently works with Lori West, an 18-year veteran of the LPGA Tour, whose first victory came in 2002 on the Women's Senior Golf Tour. She followed that performance with a second victory in 2003. In addition, Ted works with Brian Nash, the 2000 National Long Drive Champion and Pinnacle Long Drive Team Member. Brian's personal best is a 418 yard drive.

<img border="1" align="left" src="http://www.lynnblakegolf.com/gallery/files/sills-tony.jpg" style="margin-right:10px;">

Tony Sills, PGA

Tony Sills played the PGA TOUR for 13 years (1983-1996). He won the 1990 Houston Open and has played two Masters, five PGA Championships and five U.S. Opens (including a Top 15 finish at Oakland Hills). Since retiring from tournament golf, Tony has translated his playing skills into teaching skills and now assists golfers of all levels at Old Waverly.

<img border="1" align="left" src="http://www.lynnblakegolf.com/gallery/files/422-VictorTrolio.jpg" style="margin-right:10px;">
V.J. Trolio, GSEM, PGA

V.J. Trolio played Division 1 collegiate golf at the University of Southern Mississippi. He served as Team Captain during the ‘96-’97 year, and as a senior became the first Golden Eagle to earn a birth into post season play at the ’98 NCAA Championship. After graduation, V.J. turned professional, playing the Hooter’s, Teardrop, and various other mini-tours across the country. A week after missing qualification for the second stage of Tour School, he qualified for the Southern Farm Bureau Classic, one of the year-end tournaments on the PGA TOUR. This week would forever change his concept of how the game should be played.

In 2000, V.J. sought help from Rob Noel, GSEM, who introduced him to The Golfing Machine®. In 2001, V.J. was awarded the designation, Golf Stroke Engineering Bachelor (GSEB), the first instructor in Mississippi to have achieved that recognition. This year, he earned his Golf Stroke Engineering Master (GSEM).

For the past three years, V.J. has spent most of his life on his Lesson Tee at Old Waverly Golf Club. His student list of top-ranked juniors, amateurs and touring professionals continues to grow. During this time, he also co-created The Putting Arc ®, a revolutionary golf training aid now being used by more than sixty PGA TOUR, LPGA Tour, Champions TOUR and European Tour Professionals, along with countless top amateurs.

Really enjoyed meeting and working with you and Ted in Marietta last week. I'm trying to fit this event into my travel schedule. Any issues with bringing the wife (non-golfer) along and is there someone to talk to at Old Waverly for group rates on the rooms?

Thanks you Gerard McNulty gmcnulty@cisco.com

Hi Gerard,

Hope you've seen your Stroke photos up in the 'Amazing Changes' thread. You made a huge and very positive change in only two hours -- the first conceptual and the second in actual application. Good work!

No problem at all with an accompanying non-golfing spouse. Each of the cottages has four distinctly separate sleeping rooms. Go to www.oldwaverly.com and click on 'cottages' to see the bed options. The price is the same. Reservations should be made directly through the Lodge Front Desk at 662-495-5485. We've already reserved twelve rooms, so just tell them you are with the Lynn Blake Golf Academy, and they will assign you one. All rooms are equal in living area and amenities.

Farthest traveled award...

We will be giving an award for farthest traveled, and we already have a winner!
He's been following this site and my posts on the GEA and has just signed up for the school. It's very humbling to have someone travel that far to come to one of our schools, but it will be the time of his life. I personally guarantee it!

He will be traveling from AUSTRALIA!!!

A bullet hole through the ball (mother earth):

Someone with more time on their hands than me might be able to figure out the exact opposite side (long. and lat.) of the world from Marietta Golf Center, or even better, Old Waverly.

We could see if Tony is coming from the exact opposite side of the world. :) A big guess would be that it's somewhere in the middle of the Indian Ocean, so someone might be able to come from farther away, India perhaps.

What a great school...

It was a great pleasure to finally meet VJ and Tony. They are both very knowledgeable and have a great facility. We also had a wonderful group of guys that all wanted to soak up the information.

I hate that it's over. I wish it had been longer, but I'm afraid that all the guys would have been wearing band-aids, tape, and extra gloves on their bloody hands. ;)

Thanks to all that attended for making it a great school.

neil 04-24-2006 11:38 AM

Ted , from a personal viewpoint it was a privilege to be taught by such passionate teachers-Hands are swollen. As you know I like my glass full!

Daryl 04-25-2006 05:25 AM

Hello Ted and Neil,

It was a pleasure to see you again Ted, and a pleasure meeting you Neil. I'll never forget 12:30AM on the putting green with you both and Yoda. Sharing the experience was wonderful. We gave Ted a good fight but he was zeroed-in as he also was with his new X Putting Stroke Pattern. Ted, I can’t say enough good things about you. I hope to see you soon.

V.J. Your motion is “Art” and your impact is nothing short of amazing. The low point geometry on your computer sent 8,000 watts into my light bulb. You have awesome demonstration skills. I’m grateful for your instruction. When I practice, I’ll practice; and when I play, I’ll play. I won’t confuse them again. Thank you for repeating, look, look, look.

Yoda, as always, it was an honor to be with you again and see the fog cleared so easily. I’m in your debt for my new understanding about geometrical alignments of hinging and the finish swivel. My TGM knowledge has been immeasurably improved and my enthusiasm renewed by your guidance. The volumes of information will incubate for months to come and further learning and improvements will continue.

Everyone else, especially our Australian friend Ozgolfer, thank you so much for making this the once in a lifetime experience that it was.

Lynn, Ted, Host VJ and team:

Many thanks for a great weekend bringing TGM concepts into reality. Yoda IS the master, and his continued enthusiasm is only exceeded by his knowledge. Ted you were to really able to help me feel hitting, with simple concise explanations, and make me believe in hitting. I am definitely going to try grow that hitter in me(though I can't quite give up swinging yet). And VJ...man what fun!! A great host...and if Ted is "YodasLuke", VJ ought to be Han Solo...a little irreverant, a little crazy, and a load of fun whenever you get a little bogged down in TGM. He is able to "pilot" any golf swing to improvement. Thanks to all you guys and the rest of the crew at Old Waverly. I'm ready for MORE!:p

Got back to GTR at 4.20. Checked in golf bag .I was the only person there so went outside for a smoke(no BEER!).Iwas minding my own business sat outside when i started tracing the plane line along the curb .You guys who know GTR will get this .I am right forearm tracing outside the automatic doors and every time I got to two feet back, the auto door opened.I was there for twelve minutes . Eventually I turned around to see the door open and two toddlers watching me ,their fingers in mouths shouting "mummy what is the man doing"-mummy dragged them away .The next time I saw them was in the lounge when I overheard Mum say "DON'T BE MEAN TO THE SILLY MAN TALKING TO THE SIDEWALK".VJ If you hear about this can you please tell them I was PRACTICING:smile:

The golf swing is performed under a ' STATIONARY BOTTLE OF MINERAL WATER ' . Ted Fort told me this!:D

It was a privilege to spend 7 wonderful days at Old Waverly. The facility was first class and the three days of the school befitting of it.

I want to thank my new found friends for making my stay so enjoyable. Especially Lynn, Ted, VJ and Tony for providing a path to a better understanding of the golf swing and how it works.

VJ is one talented individual. That session with Yoda in the locker room after the DVD showing was hilarious. It was the comedy channel at its best  VJ thank you or showing me what Southern hospitality is all about. Although you want to stay under the radar, I suspect your teaching talent won’t allow that to happen for long.

The hour spent with Tony on the putting green was invaluable. A more humble person one could never meet. Good luck at the Seniors’ tour qualifier at Birmingham. I hope you make it and give the field a shake.

Lynn lives the Golfing Machine and it is reflected in every word he says. Yoda, thank you for the time you spent with me. You lifted a lot of fog from my golf world.

Ted, thanks mate. I look forward to many rounds with you when you make it down under and in the future. Yoda is the master but you are not far behind.

Daryl, your knowledge of the book was impressive (did you read anything else over the past 25 years ) . I enjoyed the round we played together.

Neil, you had Ted , wondering what he had to do to get it put there past you. Shame about your place of birth. Bloody pommies . I will be thinking of you when the Ashes are on. Aussie Aussie Aussie Oi Oi Oi.

Hoppy, it was a pleasure and fun to spend time with you.

To everyone else, I thank you for making me feel so welcome. I hope I get the chance to meet up with you all again, and relive the wonderful experience that was Old Waverly.

"D",

You know the tides are changing when a student (you) stops people in the class and questions the terminology being used. It was a treat to have you in the class, and I hope to see you again, soon. I'm very happy we had a chance to play some holes. I'm going to hold you to your word. I can't wait to see the new Daryl. ;)

Doc,
You're a HITTER!!!!!! Just accept it. ;) There are only an elite few, so you should feel privileged.

Having someone with 3 dimensional understanding is always easier. If I see you again and you're swinging, we're going to have words. :D Thanks for trusting me enough to send you down that road.

If you see Russ again in Franklin, tell him we met. I'll try to reach you when I return to Franklin. Maybe, we can play at the Legends.

Yours in the brotherhood,

Neil, you had Ted , wondering what he had to do to get it put there past you. Shame about your place of birth. Bloody pommies . I will be thinking of you when the Ashes are on. Aussie Aussie Aussie Oi Oi Oi.

Hoppy, it was a pleasure and fun to spend time with you.

To everyone else, I thank you for making me feel so welcome. I hope I get the chance to meet up with you all again, and relive the wonderful experience that was Old Waverly.

You Aussies have a special way of making everyone feel like they're your best friend, and at the same time call them a donger with a big grin on your face. I had a great time on the course with you, and I appreciate your willingness to scrap playing and stick to practicing. It was humbling to have you travel so far to come see us. Next time, I'll do the traveling. :)

Keep me posted on you progress.

Your friend, Ted Fort

Franklin, Indiana? The Legends is a fun course; played there for the first time a couple weeks ago.

Actually, TN. They're holding an LPGA event there this week.

P.S. How's your game?

wow, that's a weird coincidence. There's a course in Franklin, IN called "The Legends of Indiana".

My game is coming around...well, actually more up and down :) (I still need to get you some video). In short, my plane is good, hips and on plane r. should are getting better (still working on these), and I'm getting consistent in-to-out divots now. Relapses are getting fewer and further between, but the hips/r. shoulder are most stubborn. Had a great range session yesterday; probly won't play much until I'm more comfortable with the changes. Short game is getting lots more consistent; had my first range polie in quite a while today.

I had a wonderful time with each of you guys....and I hope to leave you with these parting thoughts until our next gathering.

If you practice, then let the ball fall to the way-side and think of your mechanics. Nothing wrong with practicing basic motion and acquired motion on the range instead of hitting full shots. Going slow.....means getting your components in fast.

D.D.- Great understanding of TGM.....monitor when you practice and let it go when you play.

B.S.- Just work on swivel to the end of followthrough and watch the trophies pile up.

T. aussie C.- I will never forget the slipper joke. Keep monitoring your acquired motion and making that NOISE out the bottom.

Castek - Don't ever forget the picture of my swing before and after extensor action.

D.R. - Don't hit!!!!Just kidding. Take ONE Component at a time and work it into dependability.

N.K. - Address routine with an emphasis on "pressing the button" (pg 232) on the course. Off the course, practice.

For the others that are not mentioned, when I see you on the forum I will shoot you a line.

Sustain someone's lag,
Trolio
