Server Throw-Away

Thanks for the feedback Lee.

We think we found some "throw away" on our server and it seems to be sustaining the line of compression much better. :)

The forum software was upgraded yesterday to the latest release along with some of our feature plug-ins. We turned off some suspected "high overhead" features and are keeping an eye on things.

We are going to run a few tests over the next couple of weeks to see if we can fine tune a little bit. If performance starts to degrade again, we will have some certainty that it's not related to our server configuration, but the provider network. Hopefully this will give Bambam an opportunity to complete his finish swivel. It's looking very, very good.

It's faster from this neck of the woods. :)

EdZ 06-01-2006 06:30 PM

Much, much, better today

Burner 06-01-2006 07:02 PM

Gets over here now faster than Concorde.

These guys are so good.

If the problem is solved, it's hats off to Bambam. While I was jetting around Europe he was the guy on the keyboard get'in er done.
Speaking of jetting around, nice to have you back in the swamp Yoda! Get caught up and then pack those bags for Barclays! :3gears:

Thanks, Bagger. Don't want to threadjack here, but it's good to be back. Just spent four days in Las Vegas doing a private clinic -- tough work, but somebody had to do it! -- and it's 'wheels up' for our Barclays Classic Golf Academy on Tuesday. Ted and I will be there through Sunday, but look for us to check in from time-to-time. We love this place!

Yep, very slow here earlier on in the day. I couldn't get to certain pages. But it seems to be ok right now.

Thanks Guys

We're working on it.

We have upgraded nearly every application. Today we brought the SQL database up to the latest rev.

We are still investigating everything. You wouldn't believe all the gears, knobs, pulleys, duct tape and bailing wire that are a part of a web site.

Keep the reports coming.

Thanks,

Bagger

What in the name of creation is going on this evening?

Every time I hit the "back" button to revert from a thread I have been reading to the "search results" page I get a message saying that my connection to the server has been reset whilst the page was loading. Huh?

bambam 06-09-2006 08:27 PM

are other sites giving you problems, too?

What did you search on so I can try it. Thanks

Martee 06-09-2006 09:05 PM

Going to the Home page isn't or hasn't been an issue but going the forum, to threads, recent posts, etc. has been challenging to say the least.

SQL seems not to be playing nice. Dump the logs?

Good Luck

Hope it passes, this has got to be time consuming.

Nothing in the logs that indicate a sql problem. I'm going to be doing some more performance profiling tonight.

I am using Firefox and don't have any problems elsewhere.

No worries this evening though, speed is v. acceptable and no server "resetting" problems.

Burner 06-11-2006 06:35 PM

Sad to relate that whilst speed is not an issue this evening (06/11/06) the "connection to the server has been reset while the page was loading" is happening again - repeatedly. Only on this site in case you were about to ask.

In addition there is a thread where movement from the first to the second of two pages cannot be made - "Arched left wrist", started by Daryl with the final posting by Sbark being unavailable to view.

Business as Usual

Thanks for the heads up Burner.

Just about every element of this site has been touched over the last few weeks. Last night PHP and the database received it's latest build.
As soon as the site slows down a bit, we will reindex the database. (sychronize and update all the database tables).

Appreciate your patience.

Bagger

Speed is much better than the past few weeks. I think it's back to normal.
Thanks

Growing Pains

As part of our ongoing 'growing pains,' we have had other 'page access' problems in the past couple of days. We've been hard at work correcting the situation, and hopefully, these issues are behind us now. We are doing all we can to make visiting our site the pleasureable experience it should be.

Thanks to all for your patience.

Bagger Lance 09-28-2006 08:11 PM

Service delays

You may notice some delays in page refreshes or site access until our Internet Service Provider filters out an attack on their primary name servers. This is effecting thousands of sites including our own and started early this afternoon. Thanks for your patience.

efnef 10-11-2006 02:54 PM

Slooooow...

Is it just me, or is the site slow today? Took forever to connect.

Bagger Lance 10-11-2006 03:24 PM

Efnef,

Due to some recent abuse and to protect LBG, we recently had to turn on some tools that take some extra processing power. Good guys don't have to worry about anything. The tools are finding the bad guys who insist on attacking us.

Hopefully we will be able to turn them off soon and get back to business as usual.

Appreciate your patience.
