I think I am a hitter, I tend to finish with a vertical hinge ( club face pointing to the sky ) correct if wrong...
I am sure I read somewhere here that a hitter should set up with a slightly closed face.? Can someone point me in the right direction.

Most guys I have seen who finish with a vertical hinge are indeed hitters inasmuch as they have very short back swings, an abbreviated follow through and a penchant for steering the ball straight down the fairway - hence the vertical hinge et al. They have all had immense right hand involvement, as if they are uppercutting the ball down the fairway.This does not mean that swingers cannot similarly perform but it would be harder I think.
Your actual motion will depend more on your intention than execution. Do you feel as if you start your down swing by pulling on the handle, swinger, or do you power the club down with your right hand and shoulder with the hitters more thrusting motion, for example.
Finally, swingers look to utilise a horizontal, and hitters an angled, hinging procedure. Vertical hinging usually being left for speciality shots.

I think I set up with the intention of swinging but instincts take over & I go for the hit, having been a slicer for 3 years the open face is a scary place to be.
My thrust comes from my right hand, but I tend to hit fat, I think I need to shift my aiming point out till I start going thin, then edge it back a little. I find aiming point hard as there is nothing to aim at...
I have caught a few gems and WOW can you feel that shaft bend. The videos on this site have helped SO much.
