I have seen some very good replies to your question on other forums...
In my mind, and with what I am learning here, Yoda teaches the first move at start down is planting the left foot, and more specifically, the left heel. The pivot on the downstroke moves the majority of your weight to your left heel. I think you would be well served by the MacDonald drills to understand the basics of weight shift and pivot. They seem simple, and the old pics look a little silly, the feelings and alignments you will develop are magic!

I think I understand the basics of the weight shift but I will look at the drills. I have not received a answer that is the magic yet so I will keep looking.

When I drop down too inside from the top, my left foot does the same thing. I sense the hands too far down and behind, my body rotates hard to get the club on plane, left foot spins. I have literally dug holes in the ground. Follow Kevin's advice and also watch the rear shoulder, remember down and out, not just down.
