Clear Key
I'm just starting to use the Clear Key process.

Do any of you use it? What are your impressions?

read Carey's instructions thoroughly and follow his advice.

He is a very wise man.

ive been on clearkey for how long now...uhh...2002 at least. I should by now be using it alot more on all shots it takes a lot of discipline but well worth the effort. DO EXACTLY what doc says and apply it on all shots from the get go. After so many years, there is still alot of room in my game for clearkey. its TGM's chapter 14.

is there any relation? Clearkey just brings out what is put in as a habit, either new or old, it will show what the habit is right now. If it is not incorporated completely as a change or whatever, it will show on clearkey.

am i missing a reference between chapter 14, clear key and downstroke blackout? sorry im a little thick...lol

My assumption of Clear Keys is that the swing goes on autopilot - correct me if I am wrong. TGM talks about consciously directing the hands specifically (for swingers) the #3 PP into the ball. I have a hard enough time directing #3to my aiming point, with a flat left wrist and proper pivot - I cannot imagine doing it on autopilot. Perhaps I do not fully understand the concept?

"Clearkeys" are little mantras muttered by the golfer as he swings: the idea being to remove other (technical) thoughts from the mind and allow autopilot to assume control.

Hard to think about PP3 whilst reciting "Mary had a little lamb" or some such.

Mary had a horizontal hinge action
I think clearkeys is great for someone that does not know how to direct his mind. I am not sure how Baa-baa black sheep is going to help me execute a specific hinge action. Yes...I have read the Double Connexion. I am not suggesting it cannot work, but rather that a nursery rhyme is indeed better than stinking thinking, but that (In my case) thinking the mechanic and feeling its associative feel is better. Example: my putting has shown a marked improvement since I purposely think about executing a pre-selected hinge action. In fact in practice I often just look at my hands to see that my hands are doing what my brain told them to do. I have even started using all three hinge actions! I have found horizontal hinging helpful on long @$$ putts, and vertical hinging on downhill ticklers. I live with angled but visit the other two from time to time. Plus I have more fun. You cannot deem reliable any feedback if you do not know what you purposed to do. I get that everything is pre-programmed and that the clearkey is there to allow the mechanically precise feel to execute the motion. Still, perhaps because of limited mental capacity I find verbal cues (based in the real world) comforting!

Of course I am happy to know that people benefit from the application of Dr. M's great work.

And of course my indifference to it may explain my unrealized golfing potential that lingers like a spectre!

Heading to visit Dr M for a couple of days before the Cusca bash which should be fun too.

Clearkeys are an educated autopilot. They allow you to do all your swing programming and then let it happen without your noodle screwing it up during the swing.

As Yoda says, "you are very busy preparing for a shot". Clearkeys can help many players from the 'ok I know what I am going to do' point.

They are very different from a Trigger thought which is "ok pull the trigger'. They create tension. Clearkeys are longer and reduce the mental stress.
