Jeff Hull -- Champion / Chicopee Woods Players Championship / Georgia PGA
Jeff Hull broke 100 yesterday. In fact, he shot a 99.

Oh, I left out a part:

The score was for 27 holes!

That's the way it worked at the -- get ready for this one -- TaylorMade-adidas Golf Chicopee Woods Players Championship presented by Club Car. Whew!

The 54-hole Georgia PGA event was contested over two days, with 27 holes played per day (to a 9-hole par of 36 and 27-hole par of 108 ). So, Jeff was 9-under par for the opening round of 27 holes. Today, he fired another sub-par round -- 104! -- and won the tournament on the first play-off hole.

For the presentation photo of Jeff and the tournament committe, click here for the Georgia Section's tournament schedule http://www.georgiapga.com/index.cfm?menu=2474 ; then, click on the June 30-July 1 date for -- again, whew! in advance -- the TaylorMade-adidas Golf Chicopee Woods Players Championship presented by Club Car.

Congratulations, Jeff!

Ted Fort -- Weekend Golfer Makes Good!
Ted Fort normally plays golf only on weekends, and his weekend is usually Sunday and Monday. This week, he took a three-day pass and played in the Georgia PGA* TaylorMade-adidas Golf Chicopee Woods Players Championship presented by Club Car.

The 54-hole event was contested over two days (June 30-July 1, 2008 ) with 27 holes being played per day. Ted finished T26 on rounds of 109-110=219 . . . +3 for the tournament, with a sparkling 4-under 32 on his final nine. Just takes a while for the weekender to get warmed up!

Congrats, Ted, on a solid tournament. You beat a lot of fine players, and we're proud of you!

Congrats to Jeff and especially to Ted, considering how little time he has to work on his game since he is so busy.
One of my fondest golf memories is when Ted was up here a few years ago to give two days of lessons on his way up to the Barclays. I was one of his last lessons, and he had picked me(a lowly 13 handicap) along with two other students to play 18 after his lessons were done. The utter joy on his face when he said, "Okay, I'm done- let's go PLAY!" was just unforgettable. To be able to share that was something I'll always remember.

Golfgnome at it again
Looks as though the Gnome has picked up where he left off last year. To think how many players would give certain body parts to break 100, the freak goes out and does it in 27 holes. Though his modesty will keep him from reporting he made double bogey on the shortest par 4 on the course. His only blemish on the scorecard for the day.

Having been on the bag at the AT&T @ Sugarloaf and last week at the Professional National Championship, making putts was the issue for both events. This week at Chicopee Woods, it looks like the time, effort and hard work has begun to reap the rewards. Fine playing partner, this probably just made it impossible for us to get any side action at Jekyll Island when we defend in December.
