Should be an interesting thread.

...

In general, I'd think prolly moreso for lowish, mashed short irons shots...

But then again I've seen some crazy pics of David Mobley (RE/MAX World Long Drive Champ) and Trevino and Charles Howell III with driver in hand....and not to mention that sequence of Mike Austin that was up on B's forum. (driver in hand)

Just like here:
http://www.lynnblakegolf.com/forum/v...se_images&g=11

Gary Player, Ben Hogan, Lee Trevino, Byron Nelson.....Lynn and Homer Kelly.

It's a pretty powerful thing to be able to do and I think if you could feel how the ball mashes you know you've got something.

Again tho.....short irons seem to have more forward lean in general.....and high ball hitters or someone trying to hit a shot high won't look like this either. (Jack Nicklaus for example)

I guess you'd relate it to Aiming Point and Release.

Ya I dunno that you'd want to discourage it.....but obviously you can hit it well and hard and very accurately without looking like that.

And Trevino ain't the only guy who looks like this....I have a pic on my home computer of Mobley.....so there are very dynamic golfers who do this....Greg McHatton too.

Ooh good pic.

His neck looks weird tho eh? Prolly trying real hard to keep his head down....esp. knowing how Player is.

Anyway.....what kind of things could you contribute to having the hands less/more ahead....?

A few ideas...

-how open the face is...at least in the downswing
-forward aiming point
-Axis Tilt
-Lag Pressure
-Delivery path
-weight distribution
