Congrats to Brian Gay on his T-30 finish at the Valero Texas Open. He shot 273, 7-under par, and earned $27,337.
The remaing four tournaments in the Fall Series are really important to Brian. Unlike so many in these fields, he is not fighting to finish in the Top 125 and thereby secure his card for next year. With a PGA TOUR victory at Mayakoba and more than $2 million in 2008 earnings, he has long been qualified for 2009. What he is fighting for in these season-ending events is to finish in the Top 30 money winners. That standing garners invitations to the U.S. Open and The Masters. Where does he stand now?
30th.
When we talked last week, I asked him if he was playing these events, and he responded:
I am 8 minutes away from the BLACK. Go Brian !!!!!
