Buying a digital or video camera

main thing is the camera needs to have ability to be able to set shutter speed manually pref sa 1/4000

some kind of image stabilization feature is good too

Here is something I found out after buying my digital camera.

I just assumed that I could hook my analog VCR to my digital camera and through my computer to my video swing program.

Check to see that the camera you are buying has what is called a
Pass Through.

A lot of Sony cameras have it. My model Panasonic does not.

It's just for personal use, so I don't want anything too fancy. Just the basics with fast enough shutter speed.

A shutter speed of 4000 or better is ideal, however you may discover that since you are not in the business, a shutter speed of 2000 would be acceptable.

Cost wise, most of the low end cameras (under $300) the last I look were less than 2000 shutter speed. Cannon has a few models that hover at about $300 which has a shutter speed of 2000.

I was told by someone who works for V! that 1/2000 shutter speed is ok and nothing is gained by going to 1/4000.

I got a bunch of Brian's 'hands on' tech help last week at the biggest gig in Golf -- the 2005 PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando. In addition to a free ride into the conference as his PGA Guest, his last bit of help -- free consultation from a guy with 21 consectutive PGA shows under his belt -- left me about $5,000 lighter.
